Motivational Career Quotes - Part 3

Motivational Career Quotes - Part 3

“[A] quotation is a handy thing to have about, saving one the trouble of thinking for oneself, always a laborious business."― A.A. Milne

The first month of 2018 is already over and it has flown by. I am sure you started the year with several goals and all the right intentions to achieve them.
It's got to the 28th and you signed up to that gym but your brand new trainers are back in the box wondering if they will ever be used again. You promised yourself you find that perfect career but after a few job searches you decided to just watch YouTube clips instead.

It's that time of year where we all seem to give up on the New Year goals until new years eve rolls around again. Instead of waiting another 11 months to start the journey of self discovery and bold statements of the new you, lets get a bit of motivation to start again in February.

Take January as a practise run with the real thing starting February 1st.

Although I can't help you lose those extra pounds, I'll be on hand to support with that job promotion or a complete career change but to begin with I wanted to offer you some much needed extra inspiration to get you back on track.

After three parts you'd think I might be running out of these motivational quotes but don't panic, I have an endless supply that motivate me every day so I wanted to share them with you.

These are the top 10 Motivational Career Quote for 2018:

Don't wait; the time will never be 'just right' - George Herbert

'Don't wait; the time will never be 'just right'' - George Herbert

This pretty much sums up the whole point of this blog post. Stop thinking you need to start your objectives on a Monday or the 1st of the year and instead begin now. There will never be the perfect time to find another job and you'll always be too busy to tailor that CV but that little extra time now will mean a step forward towards your goals.

Aim for the moon. If you miss, you may hit a star. - W.Clement Stone

'Aim for the moon. If you miss, you may hit a star.' - W.Clement Stone

One of my favourite quotes ever. Be inspired to aim higher, it might not always be possible but at least you tried and it might lead you to something different but equally as good. When job hunting don't be afraid to go for a job you think might be out of your depth, there is nothing negative in not securing the role at the end of the interview. It is all just a learning curve.

Don't watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going. - Sam Levenson

'Don't watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going.'- Sam Levenson

Have you ever sat at work and just watched the hours tick by, waiting until you can leave or always wishing the week away so it can be Friday again. The weekend is only two days so don't sit in a career where you're living for the weekend, find a job that you love. One where you enjoy everyday and you're not wishing for something else.
Keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground - Thomas Rossevelt

'Keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground' - Thomas Rossevelt

Whenever I am setting myself goals or even a to do list, I am always thinking big but I am sure to have realistic timelines and expectations. There is nothing stopping you from achieving huge goals but being grounded and realistic will keep you motivated and means you're more likely to achieve.

'We aim above the mark to hit the mark' - Ralph Waldo Emerson

I am not very good at sports but if I had to put my goals into a sports metaphor I would think of it like this; in basketball you don't aim for the net you're aiming for the backboard. The ultimate goal is to get it into the net but you have to aim above to ensure you make it.

'Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.' - Arthur Ashe

Such a true quote, you don't need anything extra to start on your journey. Most people will say I am not going to look for another job until I have this qualification or I'll wait until I am an expert in this certain field. Stop making excuses to delay your search and instead take what you already have and use it.

Either you run the day or the day runs you - Jim Rohn

'Either you run the day or the day runs you' - Jim Rohn

So which will it be today? It is so easy to let the day go by and accomplish absolutely nothing, especially if you're in the wrong job. You should be able to look back at the end of each day and think of at least one thing you did that you are proud of or that benefited you in anyway. Always remember small steps count towards big actions.
Knowledge is power but enthusiasm pulls the switch - Logan P Smith

'Knowledge is power but enthusiasm pulls the switch' - Logan P Smith

You can't have read my blog without the phrase knowledge is power popping up once or twice; but in the job search you need to have done your research and then show your passion through it. It's the two together that shows you're the perfect candidate for the job, one without the other just isn't the full package.
Even if you fall on your face, you are still moving forward - Victor Kiam

'Even if you fall on your face, you are still moving forward' - Victor Kiam

I came across this quote quite recently. It was a quote my dad used to tell his employees and it really rang true for me and if nothing else gave me a laugh. I was always a believer in there being no such thing as failure just setbacks but this takes it a step further, moving forward is always a positive as long as your trying.
Life consists not in holding good cards but in playing those you hold well - Mark Twain

'Life consists not in holding good cards but in playing those you hold well' - Mark Twain

Why spend all your time complaining about what you don't have and instead appreciate everything you do have. It's all about taking what you have and making something of it. If you haven't got a job you love but you have the skills and strengths an employer would desire then you need to do something about it.

Ready to take on the day now?
