Is It Possible To Hold Down A Steady Career On The Road?

Is It Possible To Hold Down A Steady Career On The Road?
Doing it on your own terms

You don’t need us to tell you that freelancing is one of the most rewarding things you can do in your professional life. As well as managing your own work/life balance, freelance life ensures you can move around as much as your heart desires. And, given that you’re reading this blog, that’s likely a goal of yours.

But, despite the benefits, not everyone feels brave enough to take the plunge. That’s especially the case if you’re transitioning from an office job to the freelance life. It’s a big gap and one many people struggle to leap over.
The good news is, there is a ledge you could choose instead. Rather than plunging straight into freelance life, jobs like these serve as transitions. They allow you to work on the road, while still staying in secure employment. If that sounds like something which appeals to you, read on to find out your options.

Remote work

Remote work is a term you’re probably sick of hearing. It’s EVERYWHERE at the moment. But, you could argue it’s the best option here. This is ideal for people who aren’t willing to risk their finances but want some freedom. With remote work, you have the chance to choose your setting and even your hours to some degree. What’s more, various fields are turning to this.

If you currently work as a PA, for instance, there are plenty of remote opportunities you could look into. Even if you’re currently working in an office, it’s often possible to arrange remote work as an alternative. Either way, you remain in a solid contract with an employer. Rather than the uncertainty of freelance work, this brings the security of regular employment, with few of the restraints.

Sales positions

When you think of work on the road, sales positions may not be an obvious option. But, these are well worth your attention. Admittedly, they don’t quite bring the same freedom as remote work. Still, sales positions could see you on the road every day, visiting new locations and meeting new people.

While you won’t have complete freedom to go where you want, you will get the benefit of spreading your wings. And, again, there are positions open here in a whole variety of sectors. From retail sales to agricultural sales jobs like those found on Hansen Agri-Placement; you can take your pick. The chances are that, whatever the field you’re currently in, you could find a sales role to suit your knowledge.

Along the same vein, delivery drivers also move around all the time. What’s more, you’ll get the chance to travel much larger spans of the country. And, the real benefit here is that most delivery drivers also receive payment for time spent on the road.

So, not only can you satisfy your wanderlust, but you also get paid for it. The only downside is that, again, you won’t be free to choose your setting. Still, this could be the ideal choice for those with itchy feet.
